For Brantford seniors looking to save a few dollars while staying active and connected, June brings some good news. City Council has approved free transit rides for residents 65 and older.
From June 1 to June 30, 2026, residents aged 65 and older can ride Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift at no cost. The free transit offer applies to both conventional transit service and specialized transit service.
Eligible riders can access the free rides by using their senior account through the BT Connect mobile app or their BT Connect Card. Seniors can also board by showing valid photo identification.
The initiative was approved by Brantford City Council and is designed to make transportation more affordable for older adults in the community. It also encourages seniors to stay active, attend appointments, visit friends and family, take part in local events, and remain connected throughout the city.
Access to reliable transportation plays an important role in helping seniors maintain independence. By offering free transit during the month of June, the City of Brantford is helping remove one more barrier for older adults who rely on public transportation.
This free ride program gives seniors more flexibility to get around the city without worrying about the cost of transit. Whether they are heading to the grocery store, a medical appointment, a community centre, or simply enjoying a day out, eligible riders can use Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift free of charge for the entire month.
