Just last week, Jersey Mike’s Subs opened its doors here in Brantford, and I decided to check it out over the opening weekend. With a line stretching out the door, it was clear that the buzz around this new spot was real. The wait didn’t deter my family—if anything, it made us more excited to see what all the fuss was about.

First Impressions and the Menu

As we stepped inside, the vibe was energetic. Staff members were moving quickly to keep up with the steady flow of customers. I counted 18 staffers working when we were there and 45 customers in the 30 minutes we were there.

One of the standout features is that they slice the meat fresh, right in front of you. It’s a simple touch, but it impressed many who were in line—including me.

My family and I sampled a few different subs: the traditional Club Sub, the Chipotle Chicken, the Turkey Provolone and Bacon combo, and a simple ham and cheese (for our picky eater – LoL)

Everyone was happy with their sub. When you place your order, they ask if you want it “Mike’s Way ” or if you want to customize the topping. I decided to trust their almost 70 years of sandwich making and chose Mike’s Way. It’s a signature style that elevates every bite. Our crew split between those who went “Mike’s Way” and those who chose their own toppings, and everyone came away happy.

Quality and Freshness

What separates Jersey Mike’s is the feeling that each sub is crafted, not just assembled. The freshly cut deli meats, cheeses, and bread that tastes like it was baked deliver a sandwich experience above what you might expect from a quick-service spot. There’s a depth of flavour here that doesn’t feel mass-produced.

Value and Experience

Is it a bit more expensive than a basic sub you might grab elsewhere? Sure. But you’re paying for freshness, quality ingredients, and attention to detail. For me, that’s often worth the slight uptick in price. The atmosphere—watching your meal come together, tasting the difference fresh-sliced ingredients make—justifies the cost, especially when you want something more than just a basic sandwich.
